5 Underrated Courses in Michigan

Michigan is an absolute gem for golf. The list of premier golf courses goes on and on. But, there's still a handful that seem to get overshadowed. Here's 5 top-tier, yet underrated courses in Michigan.

5. Manitou Passage

Nested not far from Sleeping Bear Dunes (a must visit) sits Manitou Passage. The course is set amidst dense forests and rolling green meadows offering absolutely stunning views. The course is playable for all golfers yet will challenge the seasoned-vet.

4. St. Ives

The overlooked sister course to Tullymore. But make no mistake- this course is just as pure as Tullymore and usually a much better bang for your buck. St. Ives is pure in every sense of the word. Course layout? Fantastic. Course conditions? Immaculate. Scenic holes and pure serenity await you at this gem. If you’re in the area, we recommend teeing it up at both St. Ives and Tullymore. If you do, you’re in for a treat.

3. Pilgrim’s Run

Nestled 45 minutes North of Grand Rapids sits one of the best bang-for-your-buck courses in the state. This course has it all and some. Scenery. Serenity. Surroundings. Savings. Take it all in from the moment you step on the property.

2. Hawk’s Eye

Overshadowed by surrounding courses near Bellaire, Michigan, Hawk’s Eye is an absolute hidden gem. From the outstanding, relatively newly-built clubhouse to the course conditions, layout and much more, this course surprises nearly everyone who steps on the property. The course meanders through woodlands, with nearly every hole being secluded. Sitting just over 7,000 yards from the tips, this course is no cakewalk.

1. Cedar River

Once again, this course is overlooked by more well-known Northern Michigan Courses. But make no mistake, this is one of the best in the state. Pure conditions, scenic holes, seclusion, rolling fairways and strong elevation changes await you from the first tee until the 19thhole. Pro Tip: don’t leave your approach shot short on 18.

Who We Are

Growing up we loved spending our Summers going 'Up North" on unforgettable golf adventures ... Something about Northern Michigan's pure & serene beauty and seemingly endless array of great tracks to play, stole our hearts from a young age. So, we sought to embody our Up North roots and pay ode to the beautiful North Coast that we've been lucky enough to call home most Summers.

North Coast was born from a vision over two years ago. It was during an Up North golf trip to Northern Michigan. We all had different gloves on and not one of them stood out to us. They were bland, boring, half-ripped and frankly, didn't fit our style.  Not only that, but we all seemed to agree that we didn't love the way our gloves felt on our hand. We wanted to look and feel good on the course from head to toe and we knew we weren't the only ones. So, we set out to create our own gloves from the ground up with a simple mission: create high-quality and stylish golf gloves that are beyond comfortable to wear and feel silky smooth on any hand.  Two years later, we've finally arrived and we're stoked to release our gloves to all of you. Now grab your sticks & Go Play Golf.
